Stanley’s Ice Cream was opened in 2011 by Luis & Marta Sandoval with the goal of being a family owned and ran ice cream shop where people from the community can get quality ice cream with friendly service! This is truly a family ran business – everyone from kids to grandkids to in-laws help with the shop. In July of 2015 the Sandoval’s were interviewed for the Fortaleza Cristiana newspaper. This gives a great account of why they opened Stanley’s and what they try to bring to the community!
A Family That Works Together
With these high temperatures, it’s great to have good ice-cream! Stanley’s Ice Cream offers us a great variety of flavors in a family setting with excellent prices.
Natives of El Salvador, married for 30 years, and with four daughters and a beautiful granddaughter, the Sandoval family is refreshing the lives of the community with their ice-cream.
Fortaleza C: When did you begin Stanley’s Ice Cream?
Luis Sandoval: In May of 2011.
Fortaleza C: Why did you choose to work in the ice-cream business?
Luis Sandoval: One of our oldest daughters had been working for the ice cream business prior to this one for a year and she informed us that it would be going up for sale. So we saw the opportunity of a business and we decided to buy it.
Fortaleza C: Why do you want to invite the people of the community?
Luis Sandoval: For many reasons, first because here we speak both English and Spanish, we offer a good service, it’s a family business that is solidifying with time, its big and comfortable inside and we offer 50 flavors of ice cream. Some that you can’t find in another ice cream shop!
Fortaleza C: Do you know how to distinguish what the community likes?
Luis Sandoval: Yes, we know what kind of ice-cream Americans most look for and the type of ice-cream that Hispanics look for, here we know everyone’s taste, and we let them know choose and combine their flavors without a problem. Since we are not a franchise we work with more of a freedom.
Fortaleza C: How have these four years been? How do you manage in the winter time?
Luis Sandoval: The ice cream shop functions well and we have had in these four years good results. In the winter season we manage because of our regular clients. We enjoy helping as a family very much our own business.
Fortaleza C: What do these people say about your ice cream? Why do they come to Stanley’s?
Luis Sandoval: The people tell us that our ice cream is very creamy and we strive to take good care of our clients.
